Day 10-12 – Ukraine Day 10 – 5 September 2017 – Zatoka to Mykolaiv (Ukraine) A pre-breakfast swim – much more calm and beautiful compared to yesterday And a little TRONO action Our apartment buildingSalami for breakfast 🙂 We left Zatoka, fought our way through crazy traffic and an army convoy to reach Odessa. We went into the city to find a charger for one of Steve’s many (many) devices. Interesting challenge! Boy racer Ukrainian style!! Busy noisy smelly place. We didn’t feel the vibe and left pretty quickly… …and found something more to our liking… This little beach was paid access only, so we slipped our bikes around the gate and let ourselves in. We set up the TRONOs, had a lovely picnic and then serenaded the locals with some beautiful KTM950 engine tunes as we left. Bloody hoons! We arrived in Mykolaiv, the city of love and a zoo…. …we found neither! Sam got his halo on while we enjoyed a beautiful dinner on the river as the sun set What a setting 🙂 Day 11 – 6 September 2017 – Mykolaiv to Melitopol (Ukraine) We spend some time searching for oil on our way out of Mykolaiv… …so long that we got to the edge of town and got some lunch! On the long long straight bumpy pot-holed rugged roads through the middle of Ukraine we found a small shady rest area for a break… …then some guy turns up on a tinny little bike, we’d seen him going to opposite way a long way back. He’d turned around and fanged it to catch up with us to say hi 🙂 The local map – right, got it? We head this way for another 196km (so says the GPS) The lands were certainly flat… …which would explain the lack of need for corners! We arrived in Melitopol, went to 7 hotels but no spare rooms were to be found anywhere! Until this place, when it seemed rooms should be rented by the hour!! Day 12 – 7 September 2017 – Melitopol to Berdyans’k (Ukraine) Weird fruity room Ready to get underway again The town square and modern high rise in Melitopol. Exciting times! Melitopol, the thrills capital of Ukraine! We headed on to Berdyans’k, a short hop to have an afternoon of chilling out on… …the Sea of Azoz, warmer and more inviting than the Black Sea in Zatoka. We hit a local upmarket restaurant… ..and had beer… …and pizza, with some weird local fish and stared out to sea… …and found a cheap local hotel… …not sure how we coped, it wasn’t much really!
