Day 40-42 – Kosovo, Montenegro, Croatia Day 40 – 5 Oct 2017 – Prizren to Podgorica (Montenegro) A morning walk looking up to Kalaja e Prizrenit (Prizren Fortress)… …and down Prizren Bistrica (Prizren River) Sam headed off directly to Dubrovik from here, through Albania and Montenegro… …while we were going to head up in the mountains between Kosovo and Montenegro and down to Podgorica The Church of the Saviour Sinan Pasha Mosque Prizren Fortress againThe rooftops of PrizrenSam’s route down to Dubrovnik We crossed the border out of Kosovo and spent the next 20kms in no-mans land – with stunning autumnal colours And finally crossed into Montenegro to miles of pine forests… …and fantastic isolated open spaces. We dropped down into Rozaje and along the valley to Andrijevica… …where we headed back up into the mountains and the back roads… …where we found ferns very similar to those in New Zealand… …and the stunning scenes as it turned to night and some dodgy moments before getting to P Day 41 – 6 Oct 2017 – Podgorica to Dubrovnik (Croatia) A big night in Podgorica led to a very tough day as we skirted through Bosnia & Herzegovina, stopping in Trebinje… …before we arrived on the Adriatic Sea… …and it’s stunning coastline and fortifications… …before arriving at our posh apartment in Dubrovnik. Sam had outdone himself with finding this. Apartment Isabora – nice localeWe went for a walk around the walls……and onto the rocks and the crashing waves. The evening started getting a bit moody… …but that didn’t stop the cruise ships.. …and created a moody sunset too. It’s a huge thing to watch the sunset here, it ended with hundreds of people on the rocks to see rain and dark clouds… …but the cruise ship till hung out… ..and a ghost ship sailed Day 42 – 7 Oct 2017 – Dubrovnik to Split (Croatia) Dubrovnik is an old port town… …and obviously the locals all still love by that ethos… …but it’s become a huge tourist mecca with it’s huge stone walls… …and fortifications… …which created both charm in it’s cleanliness… …but also a sterility……and in-authentic feeling……because everything was too clean..…and almost too perfect……and in alignment…..for the hordes of tourists. We did find a spot to relax though, and the rocks around the outside of the walls… … had a more rugged real feel, a perfect spot for a TRONO. As we left townyou can see why Game of Thrones decided to use this for King’s Landing… …the surrounds are spectacular, so we went up onto the cliffs… …and enjoyed our moment… …and the sights of the Mediterranean terracotta… …and the famous Croatia islands and coastline, which we cruised along all the way to… …Split…to arrive perfectly on sunset… …for more reflections on what we were coming to the end of… …but we still had time for celebrations… …and a laugh at Sam’s split pants in Split Previous next ← Day 37-39 Day 43-44 →
