The excitement builds

It’s been an interesting last week. We’ve Skyped again and discussed a re-branding of the adventure, ordered many more bits and pieces and grown the excitement levels another step.

We ordered tyres, dry bags, GPS, GPS brackets, crash bar bags, a multitude of things from KTM for pre-trip maintenance and possibly some other things I’ve forgotten. Sam got his bike back together again and got his Pickerl (WOF).

The most interesting thing for me has been the increase in excitement, we are now under 7 weeks until I get on the plane. I’ve had more discussions with people about the trip this week than at any time before. The responses have all been of genuine excitement for us. The support of us stepping outside our comfort zone and making the trip of a lifetime (hopefully not the only one though ) actually happen has been really cool.

There been plenty of light-hearted jibes about the dangers of travelling in Eastern Europe and Russia, but this is tempered by a belief that we’re really going to have a great time and that little bit of awe/jealously that we’re actually getting out there and doing it.

For the record we have spoken to a few people and watched plenty of online footage of people having an amazing time in these areas and the message has always been it’s a lot safer and the people a lot friendlier than we hear through the media.

With all this increasing discussion and it’s effect on my excitement levels it’s become a hard job to keep this in check. I’ve still got a family to look after and a job to do until I actually get on the plane, but if this week is anything to go by then that’s only going to get harder over the next 48 days
